An Associate has satisfactorily completed the requirements of the Foundational Emergency Medicine Training Program (FEMTP)*, Intermediate Emergency Medicine Training Program (IEMTP)*, Advanced Emergency Medicine Training Program (AEMTP)*, or Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine (PHRMTP) and has been formally admitted to membership of the College.
Ongoing membership as an Associate is subject to annual renewal requirements, including participation in an approved continuing professional development program.
Associate members are eligible to use the post nominal associated with the completed training program:
- AACEM (Foundational) – Completion of the Foundational Emergency Medicine Training Program (FEMTP).
- AACEM (Intermediate) – Completion of the Intermediate Emergency Medicine Training Program (IEMTP).
- AACEM (Advanced) – Completion of the Advanced Emergency Medicine Training Program (AEMTP).
- A(PHRM) – Completion of the Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine Training Program (PHRMTP).
Application Form
*From 1 March 2024, the Emergency Medicine Diploma, Emergency Medicine Advanced Diploma and Diploma of Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine were renamed, followed by the Emergency Medicine Certificate on 31 August 2024. All of these programs are classified as ACEM Associateship Training Programs.
From 1 February 2026, the Certificant, Diplomate, and Advanced Diplomate categories were retired, and members were transitioned to Associate membership with updated post-nominals aligned to their completed training level.
