On 8 March 2024, ACEM hosted an online International Women’s Day panel to explore what the theme – Count Her In: Accelerating gender equality through economic empowerment – means, not just for those who practice the specialty of emergency medicine, but the patients that they care for.

The event created a space to discuss, reflect and introspect on the achievements of women in medicine and the challenges they still face.

ACEM members Dr Jennifer Jamieson, Dr Mel Venn and Dr Shantha Raghwan worked closely on producing and moderating the successful event, which hosted a trio of incredible and determined speakers – A/Prof. Rhea Liang (RACS), Dr Nisha Khot (RANZCOG), and Dr Laksmi Govindasamy (ACEM).
