A communiqué outlining ACEM’s Workforce Planning Strategy is available here.
Gaining a detailed understanding of our emergency department workforce and activity, informs our policy and advocacy initiatives, training and education strategies and workforce distribution planning.
A clear concern in emergency departments across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand is not just the health and well-being of patients, but the health and well-being of emergency medicine physicians and trainees.
This strategy represents the results of work undertaken by ACEM’s Workforce Planning Committee on behalf of the ACEM Board, over the last two years.
We carry out independent surveys and research projects to better understand the environment that our Fellows and trainees work in and the pressures they face throughout their careers. We use this information to inform our training strategies, our workforce distribution planning and workforce sustainability efforts.
We have a number of resources relating to the wellbeing of our members and our trainees that you may also find helpful.
