Depending on which set of eligibility criteria you meet at the time of application, you will have to complete either the IEMTP and FEMTP training and assessment requirements or the IEMTP training and assessment requirements only.
Entry Pathway 1
If at the time of application you meet the following eligibility requirements you are required to complete the IEMTP and FEMTP training and assessment requirements:
- Hold general with the Medical Board of Australia (MBA); or
- Hold general scope registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ); and
- Be in your second or subsequent postgraduate year; and
- Not be enrolled in the FACEM Specialist Training Program, FEMTP or AEMTP Training Programs, or the ACEM Specialist IMG Program.
Entry Pathway 2
If at the time of application you meet the following eligibility requirements you are only required to complete the IEMTP training and assessment requirements:
- Hold general registration with the Medical Board of Australia (MBA); or
- Hold general scope registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ); and
- Be in your second or subsequent postgraduate year; and
- Not be enrolled in the FACEM Specialist Training Program, FEMTP or AEMTP Training Programs, or the ACEM Specialist IMG Program
And meet at least one of the following:
- Have successfully completed the ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate (EMC)/ACEM Foundational Emergency Medicine Training Program (FEMTP); or
- Are a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)*
- Are a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP)*
- Are a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM);*
- Are a Fellow of the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine of New Zealand (DRHMNZ)*
- Are a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care (RNZCUC)*
- within the last five years, have worked at least two FTE years in an Emergency Department of which at least three months was undertaken in Australia or New Zealand*;
*Applicants with these qualifications or experience must submit a Direct Entry Application form for Entry Pathway 2 into the IEMTP, including all required documentation as detailed on the form, and be approved by ACEM prior to submitting their online enrolment form for the IEMTP.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) refers to the assessment and acceptance of evidence of relevant knowledge, skills, and competencies attained through formal training in another medical education program or jurisdiction.
