ACEM regards diversity and inclusivity as important to the wellbeing and success of its members and trainees in the emergency medicine field. The key purpose of the Membership and Trainee Diversity Survey was to assist the College with redeveloping the cultural landscape of the Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand emergency medicine workforce.

The Membership and Trainee Diversity Survey report was released in November 2023. The report contains vital data that will assist ACEM to better promote inclusivity and ensure all its members and trainees are listen to and heard.

The survey had strong engagement from members and trainees with a total of total of 988 respondents, representing over 15% of ACEM’s membership. The survey report reflects a broad range of diversity within ACEM’s membership. It also highlights challenges that many members are currently facing within their workplaces, as well as some perceptions of ACEM’s inclusivity that will need to be addressed.

ACEM thanks all members and trainees who participated in the survey for their feedback, which will assist the College’s work to make the emergency medicine workforce better, fairer and more inclusive.
