STP Support Projects

Support project funding has assisted in the development of a range of eLearning modules and online resources, delivering a range of professional development courses and aiding several research projects.

As part of the overall funding for 2022-2025, ACEM received funding for the following STP Support Projects:

  • Pilot of a Special Skills Placement (SSP) in Indigenous Health at Alice Springs Hospital.
  • An Indigenist review of the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Emergency Medicine workforce in Australia. Recommendations for future proofing success, not just parity.
  • ACEM Clinical Lead in Ultrasound (CLUS) Workshop
  • Emergency Department Point of Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) Workshops for STP FACEM Trainees and Supervisors
  • Workplace Based Assessments (WBA’s) and Feedback Scenario Videos

All Support Projects align with the five (5) objectives of the STP Program – see the STP Operational Framework.

Flexible Approach to Training in Expanded Settings (FATES)

The Flexible Approach to Training in Expanded Settings (FATES) is funding designed to develop new approaches for non-general practitioner specialist medical training. FATES aims to broaden the skills of the specialist workforce and provide more specialists to regional areas to ensure all Australians can access high-quality care. Funding applications are assessed under a competitive tendering process and an equivalent contribution as the approved funds are made by the successful Colleges.

In early 2022, ACEM received notification that ‘Piloting of a Blended Supervision Model Incorporating Remote Clinical Supervision’ application had been successful for funding.

In early 2024, ACEM received notification that the ‘Piloting of an integrated system of Regional and Rural Accredited Emergency Medicine Training Networks’ application had been successful.
