2026 CPD Year – High Level Requirements for FACEM members
From 1 January 2026, a new High-Level Requirement (HLR) leadership activity and reflection will be introduced for all specialist emergency medicine physicians. This is in addition to the existing HLR (1x each of airway, breathing and circulation skills).
Leadership is a key component of being an Emergency Medicine specialist, and it is important to recognise the continued importance of leadership in your practice.
Specialist emergency medicine physicians (including all fields of specialty practice) will need to complete one activity per year to reflect, enhance and develop leadership skills that contribute to one or more of the following areas:
- Workplace improvement
- System-wide improvement and/or
- Effective interdisciplinary teamwork
