Part 1 – Dignity of Risk and Responsibility: Balancing patients, families and clinicians in Virtual ED.

As telehealth expands in the community, emergency physicians are increasingly faced with complex cases that raise new ethical challenges. In this thought-provoking presentation, a leading medical ethicist will unpack the principle of the dignity of risk and highlight how shared decision-making shapes the responsibilities of clinicians. Through interactive, case-based discussion, the session will explore how medical expertise can be balanced with our wider obligations to patients and society.

Part 2 – Future opportunities in Emergency Telehealth Research.

Emergency Telehealth is transforming the way we deliver care. Over the past few years, we’ve seen rapid growth in virtual models, with large numbers of patients now able to access unscheduled emergency care from the comfort of their own homes.

In this webinar, we’ll explore how research in this space can drive clinical innovation and system improvement. We are joined by Dr Tim Shultz, Health Service Researcher at Flinders University and lead author of the recent publication 'Developing benchmarking indicators for Australian virtual emergency departments: a Delphi study.' We will discuss current research and outline future opportunities for emergency medicine telehealth.
