ACEM Board

The Board Nominations Committee was established to conduct the review of the Expressions of Interest received in relation to vacancies for appointed FACEM positions to the ACEM Board, and formulate recommendations for the consideration of the Board in relation to appointments to these positions.

This Committee comprises representatives of ACEM, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA), the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (CICM), and the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

The CCPHRM provides leadership in Prehospital and Retrieval Medicine (PHRM) matters across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, particularly in relation to the key following issues:

• Development and administration of the specific recognised training pathway
• Recognition of PHRM experience
• Accreditation of PHRM services as training sites
• Clinical standards for practice
• Maintenance of skill through Continued Professional Development (CPD).

The Committee oversees the development and implementation of a recognised curriculum, qualification, clinical standards, training and certification, and continuing professional development for doctors intending to work in PHRM services in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

It is envisaged that the Diploma in Pre-hospital and Retrieval Medicine will be available for prospective trainee enrolment during 2019. The CCPHRM will continue to report on its progress.

As a vital part of the Board's governance framework, the Finance and Risk Committee is responsible for monitoring and reviewing the College’s operating budgets, risk management plan and Operational Health and Safety plan. The Committee meets quarterly.

The Governance Committee advises the Board on its operation as a corporate entity. It is also responsible for the review of policies, regulations and frameworks, the recruitment and nomination of non-FACEM Board members and for the running of elections.

The National Program Steering Committee oversees the development of the National Program - Improving Australia's Emergency Medicine Workforce a joint initiative between ACEM and the Australian Federal Government.

The National Program Steering Committee is chaired by Sally McCarthy. Each project is governed by a College Committee or Reference Group and is supported by a project sponsor and project management staff.
