The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM; the College) welcomes the release of the report issued by Dr Mark Monaghan for the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN), reviewing unplanned and emergency hospital admissions.
The ACEM Specialist (FACEM) Training Program is for medical practitioners who wish to pursue a career in emergency medicine. Successful completion qualifies for independent practice as a consultant in emergency medicine in Australia and New Zealand and the award of Fellowship (FACEM).
ACEM supportive of the work but expressed concern with the proposed capability framework for rural Victoria and could not endorse the draft. Further work was needed on issues such as the clinical workforce, minimum staffing levels, standards of care around disposition/discharge and models of care for short stay and mental health units.
