The Australian Medical Council (AMC) is an independent national standards body for medical education and training whose purpose is to ensure that standards of education, training and assessment of the medical profession promote and protect the health of the Australian community.
The AMC is seeking to appoint an appropriate person as a Council Member who has a background in and knowledge of consumer health issues.
The term of appointment will be for four years and the successful candidate will need to commit at least three full days per year to prepare for and attend the June and November meetings of Council.
As well as the opportunity to be involved in the work of the AMC, the position provides opportunities to serve on AMC committees, expert groups and panels covering a range of business areas across the AMC.
The AMC is committed to ensuring a range of skill sets and diversity in membership, from different geographical locations, to different levels of academic or clinical experience or expertise.

To nominate for the position candidates must complete and return the Nomination Form by Friday 26 April 2019. All applications will be reviewed by an AMC Selection Panel and shortlisted candidates invited to participate in a telephone interview. The successful applicant will be invited to attend the General Meeting of Council being held on 14 June 2019.
