Held in tropical Townsville from Thursday 1 May to Friday 2 May, this collaboration between ACEM and Peripheral Hospitals Emergency Medicine Conference is an excellent opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues.

GEMSEM 25 provides a unique opportunity to explore, discuss and understand the best acute medical care for older people and the positive impact we can make in every emergency department.

International leaders in geriatric emergency medicine will present updates in research and the diverse models of care emerging across Australia and overseas.

GEMSEM 25 also presents the opportunity to listen, share and collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders towards closing the gap and improving outcomes for all. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders are natural leaders within community and champions for closing the gap through positive change.

Life in the tropics can get interesting quickly. We’ll talk about disaster management and tropical medicine for our older patients before heading outside to enjoy Townsville’s beautiful weather!
