A position on our newly established ED Design Reference Group (EDRG) may be an ideal chance for you to share these experiences and improve clinician involvement in designing and building EDs. Please read the EDRG Terms of Reference.

The primary role of the EDRG will be to provide advice to the College in terms of redeveloping the ACEM Guidelines on Emergency Department Design into broad non-technical principles of ED design. The new resource will:

  1. step through the design project process, defining the optimal EM clinician role in various phases including commissioning, service and demand planning, design and development, and post occupancy evaluation;
  2. identify broad patient-centric ED design principles with a particular reference to priority groups;
  3. advocate for an environment in which ED staff can perform and enjoy clinical, teaching, research, break-out and relaxation activities, as required for workplace wellbeing, and patient-centric care.

It is expected that the project will be completed within 18 months from the time of the first meeting of EDRG. Meetings will be by teleconference with the possibility of one funded in-person meeting in Melbourne.

Please complete the below Expression of Interest by 1 August 2023.
