ACEM believes that everyone has the right to timely, safe and quality emergency care and is committed to advocating for improved service planning and development across hospital, community health services, community and cultural organisations in rural areas. ACEM defines a number of principles for achieving this outcome.
ACEM recommendations to the Select Committee leading the Inquiry into Health Services in South Australia including guidance relating to the terms of reference around access block and ambulance ramping, mental health access block, recruitment and retention of the medical workforce and building patient capacity and engagement in reform.
This statement supports Fellows and trainees of ACEM, and other emergency care researchers, in Australia and New Zealand in designing (and justifying the design of) clinical trials. Also – and of equal importance – it supports the right of critically ill patients to be involved in research in a timely manner.
