The clinical privileges of emergency physicians (FACEMs) include direct clinical patient care, supervision of clinical staff, clinical support and risk management. Activities include quality assurance, teaching, research, participation in the maintenance of professional standards, and working with ACEM to further emergency medicine.
ACEM’s comments to the Australian Government for reforms that deliver timely access to appropriate mental health care, with immediate focus on after-hours care as a viable alternative to EDs. The next National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan must include priority actions to reduce the reliance of mental health patients on EDs.
This Action Plan represents the next phase of the College’s efforts to promote positive culture change within ACEM and more broadly across our emergence departments.
EDMH is a purpose built website that houses guidelines, articles, tools and resources to assist ED staff in increasing their competence and confidence in assessing and managing patients who present with mental health issues.
