Welcome From the Chair
The Northern Territory (NT) Branch comprises all Fellows, Trainees, Retired Fellows, Certificants, Diplomates, Advanced Diplomates and Associates of ACEM working across the Northern Territory. These members are represented by the Northern Territory Branch Council, which advocates on their behalf on a range of educational, professional and policy matters.
As Chair of the Northern Territory Branch Council, I am committed to representing and advocating for members throughout the State. The branch meets three times each year, and all Fellows, Trainees, Retired Fellows, Certificants, Diplomates, Advanced Diplomates and Associates are warmly encouraged to attend. These meetings feature guest speakers, relevant themes and important updates, and form an important part of the branch’s social, wellbeing and advocacy activities throughout the year. Attendance at branch meetings also contributes to CPD requirements, with participation recorded by the branch administrator following each meeting.
There are many opportunities to become involved with the College, and the Northern Territory Branch provides an excellent starting point for members seeking to engage with issues and activities that are of greatest interest to them. The more perspectives we hear, the stronger and more effective our advocacy can be. Our branch is a respected voice in the Northern Territory media, maintains effective channels of communication with the Northern Territory Government, and enjoys productive relationships with other medical colleges and key stakeholders.
As always, I encourage members to share any local issues or concerns so that we can continue to advocate effectively on your behalf. Please contact us at [email protected].

2025–2027 NT Branch Council

Membership of the NT Branch Council consists of:
Branch Councils undertake important advocacy and engagement work at regional and national level. The volunteering of time should never be onerous on individuals. We consider that all those eligible to apply are equally capable of contributing.
Branch Council Membership
There are branches in each Australian State and Territory, with a ‘national branch’ in Aotearoa New Zealand. The membership of each branch council consists of:
- Ex-officio members, being:
- CAPP member(s) representing the region;
- the Regional Censor and/or Regional Deputy Censor representing the region; and
- the member of the Trainee Committee representing the region.
- Up to eleven (11) ‘ordinary’ FACEM members working in the region, inclusive of the Chair and Deputy Chair (as applicable).
- One member of the College in the category of Certificant, Diplomate, Advanced Diplomate, or Associate (Intermediate or Advanced) working in the region.
Members are appointed to a Branch Council for a period of two years, after which time positions become vacant. An EOI is then opened to fill these vacancies. All incumbent members may reapply this year. The new term began on 24 November 2025 and will run until the AGM in November 2027.
The NT Branch Council currently has vacancies and welcomes expressions of interest EOI.
