ACEM is committed to a sustained, accountable program to prevent discrimination, bullying and sexual harassment and to strengthen equity, inclusion and adaptation across emergency medicine. Grounded in evidence and governance, this work has driven lasting cultural change from the 2018 action plans through to the College’s current Equity and Inclusion Strategy 2026-2030.

The Equity and Inclusion Strategy 2026–2030 and accompanying Strategy Compendium outline ACEM’s commitment to ensuring emergency medicine responds effectively to the diverse needs of all Fellows, Associates, trainees, staff and patients.

We recognise that even well-intentioned systems and practices can unintentionally exclude or disadvantage people from different backgrounds, identities and lived experiences. The Strategy focuses on strengthening policies, mindsets and practices to embed intercultural understanding, compassion and social emergency care across all areas of our work.

We encourage all members and emergency departments to consider how they can contribute to fostering inclusive, equitable and culturally safe environments for patients, colleagues and communities.
