Collaboration in Emergency Medicine
Find out more about how ACEM collaborates with the emergency medicine community in Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and across the world.
- Global Emergency Care (GEC) is defined by ACEM as a commitment to improving the capacity of Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) to deliver safe and effective emergency care.
- Emergency Medicine Education and Training (EMET) provides education, training and supervision to doctors and other health professionals working in emergency departments and emergency care services – particularly in rural, regional and remote Australia – who are not specifically trained in emergency medical care.
- ACEM Networks aim to promote communication within an emergency medicine craft or interest group and provide an opportunity for members to share information and innovative ideas.
- Community Members play an important role in contributing to ACEM's work in education, training, standard setting, policy and advocacy, by providing the consumer perspective of non-clinician and prospective users of emergency care.
- ACEM seeks to form collaborative partnerships with healthcare industry organisations, societies, and colleges to continually strive for a higher level of patient care.
Interviews and articles
ACEM Community Member Jen Morris and FACEM Trainee Mim Scharkie have been interviewed for the Your ED winter 2022 edition.
Consumers are vital members of the emergency medicine team. The clinical team cannot help who is not there. Without collaboration between consumers and clinicians, the system would be untenable.
Ms Jen Morris, ACEM Community Member
Working in the international context has highlighted the importance of collaboration. Nothing can be achieved in isolation. This means the sharing of ideas, values, experiences and knowledge.
Dr Mim Scharkie, FACEM Trainee
