Independent External Reviewer

In 2018 the ACEM Board determined to establish a role of Independent External Reviewer within the College. The key role of the Reviewer is to provide independent oversight of ACEM’s handling of complaints, including DBSH and whistleblower complaints, as well as decision review processes under the College’s policies and procedures.

Government Inquiry into Mental Health and Addiction

ACEM response (05 June 2018) regarding the Mental Health and Addiction Inquiry. The purpose of the Inquiry was to identify unmet needs and develop recommendations for a better mental health and addiction system. This sets a clear direction for the next five to ten years for Government, health sectors, and communities to progress.

Policy on Organ and Tissue Donation

This Policy outlines the responsibilities of emergency physicians within the organ and tissue donation process. The principles accord with the Best Practice Guideline for Offering Organ and Tissue Donation in Australia. The Policy does not give clinical advice on donor identification, management or assessment for medical suitability.
