I imagine that when people think about emergency medicine, they picture it like the ED on a TV show: all gunshots and car accidents.
It has been my privilege as ACEM President to spend the past few months travelling around Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.

The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM; the College) congratulates Peter Malinauskas and the South Australian Labor Party on their 2022 SA election win and looks forward to working with them to ensure urgent improvements to the beleaguered SA health system are delivered swiftly – and exactly where they are needed.
The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM; the College) welcomes the federal Labor party’s aged care policies and believes the policies – particularly registered nurses working 24/7 at residential aged care facilities (RACFs) – could have positive impacts on emergency department pressures.
ACEM strongly welcomes the focus on health in the 2022 Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ) budget and believes that elements of the $11.1 billion investment could help reduce pressure on struggling hospital systems, and contribute towards the provision of a better, fairer health system for people across NZ.
