ACEM supports the Queensland Sentencing Advisory Council on legal protections provided to all healthcare staff working throughout Queensland’s hospitals and EDs although could not comment on the specifics of any existing or proposed change to the legal framework but considers that more can be done to reduce the likelihood of violence.
To ensure adequate experience in generalist medicine, junior doctors must be exposed to a wide spectrum of acute and undifferentiated illness. This is best obtained by a period of training in emergency medicine. The complex nature of emergency medical care means that junior doctors need extensive support/oversight to function safely.
ACEM is governed by the principles outlined in our Constitution. The Constitution was adopted on 15 November 2009, replacing the former Memorandum and Articles of Association which were established at the College's inception in 1984. It was amended: 15 March 2011, 20 November 2011, November 2013 and November 2015.
The Strategy focuses on an evidence base of benefits prioritising national-level digital health activities and realising the benefits of digitally enabled health and care. It promotes collaboration of various investments, clarification of roles, and enables organisations to align their strategies to national priorities.
