Policy on Emergency Department Signage

This document outlines a policy position on the signage that should be used to denote emergency departments. It is a matter of public safety that if a facility is signposted as an ‘Emergency Department’ or ‘Emergency’ then it must comply with a minimum standard as defined in the ACEM Statement on the Delineation of Emergency Departments.

Stroke Clot Retrieval (SCR) Action Plan

ACEM supportive of transferring patients out of EDs into specialist care as soon as clinically appropriate. ACEM identifies resourcing as a potential issue within the Plan and noted that in the Action Plan’s cost analysis, the opportunity cost of not treating other patients due to resourcing stroke clot retrieval has not been determined.

Consultation on the Controlled Substances (Poisons) (Miscellaneous) Va

Amendments were proposed to the Controlled Substances (Poisons) Regulations 2011 to mandate the use of ScriptCheckSA, South Australia’s Real-Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) system. ACEM was broadly supportive of the change but highlighted system capability issues will hamper further implementation.
