The Emergency Medicine FACEM Training program equips emergency practitioners to become consultants in emergency medicine. The program is flexible, can be undertaken within five years, and provides trained supervisors, relevant assessments and robust examination.

The FACEM Training Program is a minimum five year training program. It can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis. The training program includes structured training and education, work-place based assessments, research requirements and examinations.
We have a range of membership categories, the requirements of which are set out in the College Constitution and associated regulations (Regulation A1)
As a membership based organisation our work is progressed by physicians and clinicians who volunteer their time, in partnership with stakeholders and professional staff employed at the College.
ACEM recognises the wisdom and expertise of our members and the importance of providing additional support to members throughout their career journey. ACEM has developed a Later Career Program, aimed at supporting later-career members who are looking to change their scope of practice or prepare for retirement.

Anyone who works in the ED can be a Manaaki Mana kaikōkiri / champion – one of the unique aspects of this movement is our multi-disciplinary approach – because emergency care is a team sport.
ACEM hosts a variety of events spanning across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand annually.
Trainees in the FACEM Training Program can complete their training at a range of different sites that are accredited and approved as suitable for both ED and Non-ED training.
