This review was seeking research ethics guidelines that identify vulnerable groups who may require protections over and above those that are necessary for participants who are not members of such groups.

Statement on Information, Choice of Treatment and Informed Consent

Suggested inclusions in NZ around consent from patients, or their representatives, in emergency care for high-acuity and life-saving intervention, where not providing care immediately, may result in death or permanent disability. Interventions should be performed in good faith, according to guidelines and in the patient’s best interests.
