This document sets out the procedure for the review of inquest findings and recommendations referred to ACEM by Coroners to ensure that, where possible, these recommendations are adopted, including communicating Coroners’ findings to College members.
ACEM welcomes AHPRA’s single definition of cultural safety developed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. ACEM will review its current policies, standards and other educational material to ensure that the term cultural safety is used appropriately and consistently once the definition is endorsed.

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing have asked for feedback on their draft policies on Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). The letter that we have written in response, highlights the importance of prioritising patients with disability who are currently in hospital for SDAs. We hope this will help improve patient flow.

All people have a right to an environment safe from violence. Our vision is that no staff, patients or accompanying persons suffer harm due to violent incidents in the vicinity of the ED and the wider hospital. We support the implementation of strategies for prevention in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Staff and the public have the right to an environment, that is therapeutic and safe from violence. Violence and aggression in the ED and its vicinity are unacceptable. We support implementation of evidence-based harm prevention strategies.
The ACEM CPD program enables all CPD participants to meet the Standards for continuing medical registration and recertification in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
