Time: 11:00am to 12:30pm AEST
Family and domestic violence (FDV) is a leading driver of emergency department presentations across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, yet identification and response remain inconsistent.
This 90-minute webinar, co-hosted by the ACEM Public Health and Disaster Advisory Committee and Advancing Women in Emergency Medicine, brings together emergency medicine clinicians, researchers and advocates to examine what best practice FDV response looks like in ED settings — and how to make it happen.
Speakers will address the current landscape of FDV presentations in EDs, explore universal and targeted screening models from both sides of the Tasman, consider the unique challenges of rural, remote and telehealth settings, and explore models of care.
A moderated panel discussion and live Q&A will draw on real-world experience and lived expertise to examine barriers and enablers to FDV identification by healthcare professionals and the victim survivors’ capacity to disclose.
This webinar is relevant to all emergency clinicians — Fellows, trainees, nurses, and allied health professionals — with an interest in improving care for patients experiencing FDV. All are welcome to attend.
This activity will meet 1.5 ACEM CPD hours.
Attendance is free but registration is essential.
