Know what Māori specific services are available in your rohe (area) – do an internet search, talk to your Māori Liaison. Know the referral process for these services.

Consider joining Te ORA (you don’t have to be Māori to join as an associate member) and explore attending Te ORA workshops or  conferences, remembering that if you are non-Māori, you will need to consider how to be respectful of the discussion space as a forum for Māori clinicians.

Consider attending other conferences such as LIME (Leaders in Indigenous Medical Education); or PRIDoC (Pacific Region Indigenous Doctors Congress)

Good care starts in the emergency department, but follows through to the rest of the hospital throughout the patients’ stay.  See what other departments in your hospital are doing for Māori health.  Many other colleges also have action plans similar to Manaaki Mana, and the other departments may have champions for Māori health.
