Welcome to the seventh issue of Your ED. ACEM is again proud to showcase stories of emergency medicine from across Australia, New Zealand and the globe.
Noting the existing workforce shortfalls and the inability of the health system to adequately meet the needs of Tasmanians, we are particularly concerned that TAS will not be able to meet increasing healthcare needs as the population simultaneously grows and ages.
This policy governs the awarding of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM, the College) Global Emergency Care Research Award, which is made in respect of a published research paper to be most significant in the field of emergency medicine as it relates to Global Emergency Care.

ACEM recognises that current infection control processes for ultrasound machines and transducers in EDs may require change as further evidence becomes available. To this end, ACEM is actively working with ASUM and ACIPC to better determine processes and standards to ensure the provision of the best possible patient care.
ACEM-accredited EDs are required to complete the Annual Site Census. Part two of the report presents findings of ED resources and services.
