ACEM supports the Productivity Commission in recognising EDs as an integral component of the mental health system. This reiterates the need for equity of access to mental health services across the stepped care model to ensure that EDs are no longer the only front door to mental healthcare and are accessed only for acute care needs.
The purpose of this guideline is to outline items for training providers to consider when engaging and utilising volunteer models and provides a template for information for volunteer patients. The guideline also outlines considerations about workshop participants.
