Alcohol and other drug (AOD)-related harm is a major public health issue that places a significant, preventable burden on EDs and the wider healthcare system in Australia. ACEM has long advocated on this issue in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, highlighting the extreme pressure that AOD-related harm places on acute care settings.
