Successful Winter Symposium

More than 300 emergency doctors from around New Zealand, Australia and beyond  enjoyed four days of workshops, discussions, keynote addresses and plenaries, and social and networking opportunities at ACEM’s 2019 Winter Symposium.

The Symposium, which wrapped up today (May 3), was held in Rotorua, New Zealand.

Highlights included (but not limited to):

• Keynote speakers Dr Jan Bone , Dr Tim Parke and Dr Dominic Fleischer.
• The launch of the ACEM’s Manaaki Mana – the College’s inaugural strategy to deliver equity for Māori in emergency departments.
• A Kapa Haka Performance by the Raukura Kapa Haka group from Rotorua Girls and Boys High School.
• An address on leadership by Assistant Commissioner Response and Operations at New Zealand Police, Tusha Penny.
• A Women in Emergency Medicine Breakfast.
• Three former patients who shared their remarkable stories of recovery.
