Resolution 1 – to replace the positions of the Deputy Chairs of the Council of Advocacy, Practice and Partnerships and the Council of Education with two FACEMs from the general membership – was voted on by 936 FACEMs, with a total 892 votes (95.3 percent of voting FACEMs) supporting the resolution.

Resolution 2 – to appoint a Community Representative to the Board – was voted on by 936 FACEMs, with a total 793 votes (84.7 per cent of voting FACEMs) supporting the resolution.

‘This is a great outcome for our College,’ ACEM President Dr Simon Judkins says.

With effect from 5:30pm the Constitution has been amended to reflect this outcome.

‘There are steps we must now take to implement these changes, but it is great to see so many FACEMs participate in the voting process and vote for a change that will enable great growth in our College and members.’

It is important to note that the incumbent Deputy Chairs of the Council of Advocacy, Practice and Partnerships and Council of Education will see out their terms – to November 2019 and November 2020 respectively. There will be temporary growth in the number of Board members during this interval to allow for the appointment of two FACEMs from the general membership as soon as possible.

The College will release further details of the next steps, including nominations and appointment processes, as soon as is practicable. We appreciate your patience as we finalise those steps and encourage you to keep an eye on our website, College emails (Bulletin, Faculty Updates and Trainee News) and on social media (Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn).

The College thanks everybody who has participated in this process.
