The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have gone above and beyond in their field. Dr Borland received the award for her significant service to emergency medicine, particularly paediatrics, and to medical research.
Dr Borland, currently the Director of Emergency Medicine Research at Perth Children’s Hospital, said, “When it comes to work you just do it – you get on with it. So when someone else recognises your work, it really is terrific. The award inspires me to keep going.”
Over her career, Dr Borland has authored over 100 scientific papers, and has contributed considerably to the College, including the Emergency Medicine Australasia (EMA) Journal. She is currently a member of ACEM’s Emergency Department Epidemiology Network (EDEN) and Clinical Trials Network.
ACEM President Dr Clare Skinner said, “We offer our warmest congratulations to Dr Borland on this well-deserved acknowledgement of her considerable services to the field of emergency medicine.”
