Associate Professor McCarthy was elected in a vote at the IFEM General Assembly, which took place during the IFEM’s International Conference on Emergency Medicine 2018, which is currently being held in Mexico City.

“It is a great honour for a great leader and role model,” Dr Judkins said of the news.

Associate Professor McCarthy begins her new role immediately, and will become President in 2020.

Also at the meeting, former President Dr Anthony Cross was re-elected Treasurer of the IFEM and Immediate Past President Professor Tony Lawler was re-elected as the Regional Board Representative for Australasia.

“As a founding member of IFEM, ACEM is committed to advancing the growth of emergency medical care around the world, and we are thankful to having these committed and high-performing individuals at the forefront of this work,” Dr Judkins said.
