ACEM strongly condemns this antisemitic act of terror in Australia and reaffirms our collective resolve to reject violence and extremism in all forms.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, loved ones, and all those in the Jewish community and beyond affected by this devastating attack.
ACEM pays tribute to the first responders who acted swiftly and with great courage to save lives – health care workers, paramedics, police officers, emergency personnel - and all others.
As the peak body for emergency medicine in Australia, the College also wishes to thank the emergency department clinicians and staff working tirelessly and efficiently to provide care for patients in hospitals across Sydney.
“As emergency physicians we are prepared and trained to respond to major critical incidents, even as we truly hope they never occur,” ACEM President Dr Peter Allely said.
“In the coming days and weeks, we would like to offer our support to colleagues currently dealing with this unimaginable tragedy.”
We remain united in compassion, resilience, and our commitment to supporting one another in the days ahead.
