“One of the biggest changes coming our way is the introduction of the regional, rural and remote training requirement and I look forward to advocating with jurisdictions across our two countries to ensure its successful introduction.
“I've always loved the science of emergency medicine, I think as a specialty we punch well above our weight in using evidence-based medicine and would like science and research to be a focus of my presidency.
“I will continue to advocate about the biggest core issues affecting us at the moment: overcrowding, workforce issues and violence and aggression in our departments.”
ACEM President Dr Stephen Gourley congratulated Dr Allely on his successful election.
“Peter is a highly respected figure in emergency medicine and across the broader medical profession. He has made a strong impact during his term as President-Elect through his involvement in College advocacy to improve the healthcare system.
“I look forward to continuing to work closely with him. His vision and energy will continue to inspire and strengthen our community.”
Dr Gourley also acknowledged and thanked candidate Dr Belinda Hibble.
“I sincerely thank Belinda for her exceptional dedication and commitment to the College across multiple roles and look forward to her continued involvement.
“The strength of the field in this election is testament to the depth of talent within the College.”
