Policy for Credentialing for Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography

This document relates to credentialing for emergency medicine ultrasonography in emergency departments. This policy details the credentialing process that ACEM recommends for emergency physicians who wish to perform focused emergency medicine ultrasound on resuscitation and trauma patients and for procedural guidance.

This Policy relates to ED preparedness and response to a single or mass presentations by people known or believed to be contaminated by hazardous chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) materials. It applies to materials that have a credible, real or potential risk of harm to any person coming into contact with the material.

Policy on Child at Risk

This Policy relates to the awareness, detection and management in the ED of children at risk of abuse or neglect. ‘Children at risk of abuse’ refers to children and young people who have suffered or are likely to suffer as a result of an act of violence or neglect, or a failure of protection by an adult responsible for their care.

Policy on Immunisation in Emergency Departments

Emergency departments (EDs) frequently provide healthcare for populations at risk of being incompletely immunised. EDs are not resourced to be primary providers of routine immunisation, but opportunistic immunisations may be given to incompletely immunised patients who have limited access to other immunisation providers.
