Magistrate Harriet Grahame, Deputy State Coroner
Harriet Grahame was appointed a Magistrate in 2010 and has been a Coroner since 2015. Her first job as a solicitor was for Redfern Legal Centre and she maintains a core interest in and commitment to social justice. As a Coroner, Harriet has a particular interest in preventable drug deaths, mental healthcare and healthcare in rural, regional and remote areas, including for First Nations communities. Harriet’s presentation will explore how the Coroner’s office can advocate for improvements in the healthcare system, as well as advancement of broad social justice issues that impact on the health of individuals and communities.
Dr Mark Garcia, Emergency Staff Specialist
Mark Garcia is an emergency staff specialist at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital with a keen interest in medical education. Mark is a Fellow at Johns Hopkins University’s Masters of Education in the Health Professions Program. He also runs the ‘McJournal McClubbyFace” group, in which he moderates discussion of clinical controversy. Mark’s presentation will explore innovation and improving learner engagement in emergency medicine education and training.
