In October 2020, ACEM sought feedback from its membership on the key issues facing the emergency medicine specialty and its workforce. The consultation was sent to the whole of the ACEM membership, including FACEMs, Certificants, Diplomates and trainees.
Following review of the feedback from that consultation, the Workforce Planning Committee has developed a series of recommendations to address the workforce planning issues identified.
The Committee is now seeking feedback on these recommendations. Please review the Recommendations Paper and then complete the consultation survey on the issues outlined and suggested solutions.
The consultation period closes 4 October at 9.00pm AEST.
The Recommendations Paper
The scope of the Recommendations Paper is to:
- report on the results of the Workforce Issues Paper; and
- provide a set of recommendations to address the workforce planning issues identified.
These recommendations focus on creating a long-term vision for
- addressing the maldistribution of workforce;
- improving the number of trainees and new FACEMs wanting to grow their careers in rural and regional areas; and
- ensuring a consistent level of quality of care is delivered across all regions.
Following the close of the consultation period, the Workforce Planning Committee will review the feedback and then develop a final set of recommendations that will e presented to the ACEM Board regarding the College’s strategic direction on workforce planning matters.
Please contact the Office of the CEO (+61 3 9320 0453) or [email protected] if you have any concerns or queries accessing or completing the survey.
