The Indigenous Health Subcommittee of ACEM and the New Zealand Faculty are working together on a new project with four aims:
  • Increase the number of Māori trainees in Emergency Medicine.
  • Support our current Māori trainees and FACEMS.
  • Increase the cultural competence of all ACEM members.
  • Achieve equity for Māori in New Zealand EDs.
Ultimately, we want to improve the ED experience for Māori patients, their whānau, and staff in New Zealand EDs.

We are currently drafting a survey to find out what work is already being done in your workplace, and to collect your ideas about what could be done.

If you are a Māori FACEM or trainee, we are especially keen to hear from you and would love to have you on-board. Along with this survey we will send out an Expression of Interest for the project steering group.

Our survey will be circulated via the New Zealand Faculty Update so please take a few minutes to complete the survey when it comes out in the next few weeks and think about how you can contribute to this important mahi in Aotearoa.

If you do not currently recieve the New Zealand Faculty Update and would like to be involved, please contact the College
